Edelweiss German Restaurant — Authentic German food and beer right off the roundabout. Definitely try a torte or cake for dessert! 

Ivywild School — Check out a variety of eats and drinks in this renovated school turned local hotspot. Capped on either end by great brews at Bristol Brewing Company and tasty whiskeys and bourbons at Axe & the Oak Whiskey House, you can get your fill of pizza, empanadas, salads, charcuterie and more at the multiple restaurants sandwiched in between. Also inside: Principal’s Office serves up locally roasted coffees, teas, and inventive cocktails. 

Little Nepal: Indian Restaurant & Bar — Local favorite since 2007, Little Nepal creates fresh, flavorful, adaptable biryanis and curries. Avoiding any foods? Just let it be known and they’ll help you modify nearly any dish.  

Nights Out

Burrowing Owl Lounge — Popular vegan bar, grab an Adult Chocolate Milk and find a seat in or outside. Not to mention, Burrowing Owl is THE PLACE to get your favorite diner food vegan-style.  

Happy Tap — Features tons of Colorado beers, an assortment of wines, and food trucks outside for a full evening out. Plus chill karaoke nights.  

Play Outside

Bear Creek Park — Trails stretching west from 8th Street to the corner of Gold Camp and Bear Creek Roads include easy to moderate hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. There’s an equestrian skills course for you and your horse to practice difficult trail obstacles, an educational nature center, a free public archery range, a large dog park, and plenty of playgrounds throughout the park.  

North Cheyenne Cañon Park — A verdant canyon stretching west from Ivywild full of scenic trails ranging from easy to difficult. Trails meander along North Cheyenne Creek offering creek walking and waterfall views, while others climb steeply up craggy mountains providing spectacular aspects. Two nature centers are located in the park: Starsmore Visitor & Nature Center and Helen Hunt Falls Visitor Center.

Stratton Open Space — A well loved local spot known for trail running and mountain biking with intense downhill section, “The Chutes.” Easy trails to meander with little kids, a couple of reservoirs to visit, and uphill climbs for those looking for a little more strain. The southeast side faces The Broadmoor with clear views of the infamous hotel. 

Sightsee

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo — Over 6,000 feet up, the highest zoo in America is also voted one of the Top 10 North American zoos by multiple newspapers. It’s a conservation-focused zoo so you know the animals are getting the best care possible. You’ll find tons of exhibits (and experience options) including exotic and native animals. Absolutely worth the visit and a membership if you enjoy animals or have small kids. 

Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun — Included in your zoo ticket is a visit to the Shrine: an iconic tower placed high up on Cheyenne Mountain dedicated to actor and philosopher Will Rogers. You’ll be rewarded with stunning views after the windy drive and steps to the top.
